On Tuesday 9 June, our Year 12 students visited a range of universities as part of their ongoing career and pathway planning.
These visits provided students with the opportunity to explore tertiary study options, engage with university staff and students, and experience campus life in a relaxed setting away from the crowds of a traditional Open Day. As part of the Year 12 Careers Framework – I Apply – the experience offered valuable insights to support students as they consider their post-school pathways and prepare to submit their VTAC preferences in late July.
Students selected two universities to visit from RMIT, Australian Catholic University, Victoria University, Swinburne University and Monash University. Each institution provided a campus tour and information session, with many also offering interactive activities and student panel discussions that gave our students a genuine insight into university life.
We are grateful to our university partners for welcoming our students and sharing their knowledge and experiences. These opportunities play an important role in empowering our young women to make informed decisions as they prepare for the next stage of their educational journey.

A Careers Day was held for our Year 11 students on Thursday 17 June as part of the Year 11 Careers Framework – I Decide.
Throughout the day, students participated in post-secondary planning activities, explored their unique future pathways and reflected on their Year 12 subject selections. They also heard from a range of tertiary providers, including Australian Catholic University, Deakin University and Victoria University, who shared information about courses, support services and university life.
In the afternoon, students were inspired by a panel of MSJ alumni from the graduating classes of 2023–2025. Our former students generously shared their experiences of university study, campus life and the transition from secondary school, providing valuable insights and practical advice for our current Year 11 cohort.
This dedicated careers experience encouraged our young women to consider their strengths, interests and options as they continue to make informed decisions about their future careers beyond secondary school.

On Thursday 11 June, a group of selected Year 9 and 10 students attended a Health Immersion Careers Experience at Victoria University.
Throughout the morning, students participated in a range of interactive activities and discussions, exploring careers in nursing, paramedicine and community health. They were supported by current university students and teaching staff, who shared valuable insights into study options and life in the health sector.
The experience provided our students with a greater understanding of these rewarding professions and the day-to-day responsibilities of health professionals, helping them make informed decisions about their future careers.
