Cricket Victoria - Cricketers Connect Senior School Webinar "Pilot" Program

MSJ is excited to partner with CV to bring our Year 12 students the opportunity to be involved in the CV pilot of their new "Cricketers Connect Senior School Webinar series".

The date is yet to be confirmed, but in the coming weeks, elite Australian/Victorian Female Cricketers will connect with our students to share their experiences during COVID-19 and Lockdown.

These athletes will talk about their challenges in Cricket, including the frustrations of not being able to train to their normal standards, adapting to new daily routines, dealing with a lack of structure and the importance of staying connected with their friends and family during these unprecedented times.

The hope is that by these high performance athletes sharing the strategies they have implemented to cope and stay motivated, it will provide an empowering educational opportunity for our Year 12 MSJ students to learn from positive role models.

The athletes will also share with the students some tools to help stay focused with their studies, assist with the motivation required to achieve their goals and highlight the importance of staying connected with their community.

Race Around Australia community event

Join us for this MSJ community event that promotes health, wellbeing and a great excuse to leave our locked-down homes safely and participate in this whole College event.

Race Around Australia operates from Monday 24 August until Monday 12 October.

This is a 50-day walk, ride, skate, run to virtually cover 14,165 km around Australia together in 50 days.

By entering your kilometres daily, you will be able to follow the MSJ pin move around Australia, passing through iconic Australian towns and places like the SCG, Byron Bay, Cairns, Broome and Esperance, until we make it back home to Altona.

Sign up for the race around Australia on MSJ Connect, in the bulletin, or follow this link HERE.

Sign up is open now but remember the event starts from Monday 24 August, only then can you start to enter your personal or group kilometres.

Each student will get a house point for entering the race.

It is open to individual students, staff or family/friend groups of up to 4 persons.

Get involved; get your parents, brothers, sisters, and friends moving with you, record your combined kilometres and let us do a lap of Australia together as an MSJ community.

The Junior House Captains, led by Kayla Bianchin and Bridget Munro, are working with Year 8 Class Captains to run a "BEST OF PETS " Competition from Monday 24 August to Sunday 13 September, for all Year 8 students and staff!
Lots of prizes for Best Trick, or Most Adorable Pet, but if you don't have a pet, just get creative, and there will be a "No Pet" category with prizes for creativity. Have some fun and get involved, and show us your furry, feathery or scaly family members.

Parenting Teens Post-Covid-19: Teens, Socialising and Alcohol

Parents of MSJ are invited to join their local community for a webinar with leading drugs and alcohol expert and best-selling author of the book “Teenagers, Alcohol and Drugs”, Paul Dillon. This event will be held online on Thursday, 17 September at 6.30pm. Paul will examine how teens have adapted to COVID-19 and discuss some of the risks, and potential benefits of teens living in ‘isolation’. As restrictions are lifted in the coming months, Paul will provide practical tips to help us to ensure our teens are able to socialise with friends, and at the same time, reduce the risk of underage drinking & drug-use.
