Legally Blonde

Legally Blonde, what an amazing success!! It has been five years since MSJ has been able to put on a musical due to covid, etc, and we definitely blew the cobwebs off! Legally Blonde Jr. was held at the Altona Theatre on 4-5 August with three sold out audiences. The student involvement in the show was extraordinary. A cast of 45 was on the stage, led by Alexandra Smedley in the lead role of Elle, broken-hearted sorority president turned Harvard Law student. Backstage was a completely student-led crew that could walk into any theatre and have things running smoothly, with Amy White at the helm, and two of our Year 10 drummers, Caitlyn Marshall and Greta Rossi-Morgan, playing in the totally professional band and holding their own.

To say we are proud of all of them doesn’t even come close. They looked fabulous, they sounded fabulous, and they danced their little white sneakers off. So many hours of music rehearsal, dance rehearsal, learning lines and all that goes into doing a show was embraced by an appreciative and supportive audience. This show was a developmental experience for all involved, to see some of the quieter students grow in confidence and self-pride is why school musicals and the arts are offered here at MSJ, a space where you can be yourself, and be accepted for who you are.
