Go Girls 100KM Challenge

On Tuesday October 14th our Year 9 students proudly took part in the Go Girls 100KM Challenge at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park. Working together in teams, the girls ran a combined 100 kilometres to raise awareness and funds for the Go Girls Foundation, which supports women facing disadvantages across Victoria. The event has just started and we have raised $2700 (with the event having raised over $175,000). All together the girls were able to run 100km throughout the day, all while having fun, cheering each other on and making memories. We’re so proud of everyone who participated and helped make a real difference!

Table Tennis

On the 7th of October, our school competed in the CGSAV Table Tennis competition. It was a fun and exciting day filled with great teamwork and sportsmanship. The seniors put in a fantastic effort, making it all the way to the semi-finals and narrowly missing out on the finals by just 8 points. The intermediates also played exceptionally well, reaching the semi-finals after some close matches. The juniors gave it their best shot and showed great spirit throughout the day. Overall, it was an enjoyable and successful day for all our players!

Softball

On October 15th, students proudly represented MSJ in CGSAV Softball. The intermediate team had a great couple of games at the beginning of the day, winning their first two matches against Santa Maria and Mater Christi before coming up against OLSH, whom we played in the finals, and Sacred Heart Geelong. The girls did so well keeping up with SH Geelong’s senior team, only losing by a few runs in the end. We were also lucky enough to fit a Maccas run during our lunch break before playing our last game and then the grand final. Unfortunately, MSJ was unsuccessful in securing a win, however the team’s spirits throughout the whole day kept the vibe positive.

A shout out to the whole inters team, we played amazing and didn’t fail to put up a fight, and to Ms Feore and Mr Piazza for coaching both the junior and intermediate teams.

Amelia Cassar - Year 9

Last Wednesday MSJ students represented the school in the CGSAV Softball Competition. The junior team had some tough competition with the team pulling through with one win out of our four games. All teammates played excellently with everyone getting at least one hit for the day, everyone played all positions well and had great communication and teamwork.
Thank you to our wonderful teachers who helped us throughout the day, Ms Feore and Mr Piazza.

    Keely’s National Orienteering Success

Earlier this year, Keely was selected to represent Victoria in the Schools Orienteering Team. Over the recent school holidays, she travelled to Brisbane to compete in the Australian Orienteering Championships.

Competing in the Under 16 Girls division, Keely delivered an outstanding performance, winning the National Title in the Sprint Race - finishing ahead of competitors from both Australia and New Zealand. She also joined two teammates from the Victorian team to earn a bronze medal in the relay, making them the first Australian team to place.

Congratulations to Keely on this remarkable achievement!
