MMADD Day 2025

MMADD Day 2025 was a special day, not only as a celebration of art in all forms, but because this year’s Year 12 students missed out on their Year 7 MMADD Day due to lockdowns. This year’s theme, Disney/Pixar, was to be the 2000 theme, so they finally got to do it, and the costumes from Students, staff, and the principal were all the best I’ve seen.

The day began with fabulous guest speakers Clara O'Sullivan and Paris Jade Webster from Monster & Bear Content Agency. Both Clara and Paris are producers for the company who specialise in concept development, creative direction, production management and animation & motion design. This was a fascinating session and a great way for the students to see that there is a place in the arts for everyone, even accountants!

We then had some amazing performances from Ash Kapinski, Isabella Ten, Bernice Chu, Swara Agrawal, Jemima Sutton, Riona Fernandez and Taysha Farrugia.

The middle session with Disney themes activities was great fun. Lots of students got to leave their workshops with memorabilia including friendship bracelets or origami frogs, the cupcakes were more a short-term memory…. But delicious.

The highlight of the day is always the dance competition with year 7 &12 working together in their houses. After weeks of rehearsals, choreography, costume sourcing or making, all houses were brilliant! Unfortunately, there can be only one winner…. Well done McCormack.

Kindred Studios VET Music Performance

On 10th June, the Year 11 and 12 VET Music students performed at the live music venue Kindred Studios in Yarraville. It was a fantastic night, with students showcasing a diverse repertoire across a broad range of musical styles.

The Year 11s energetically started the night off, performing in two ensembles of three, with several students showcasing their skills as multi-instrumentalists! The first trio, consisting of Sarah Muyunga, Abigail Drakes and Lily Woolford played iconic hits from Billie Eilish and Elton John. Second, Amalia Brocas-Reti, Amelie Young, and Emily Lamb, played a setlist allowing each member to take the lead vocals for one song. Both ensembles were fantastic!

After a short break, the Year 12s had their time to shine. As part of the end-of-year VET Music exam, students are required to choose either Solo or Group Performance. This year, all students opted for Solo. Each performer presented repertoire that showcased their unique musical style and specialisation. Amy White graced the audience with an angelic voice and perfect poise, followed by Erica Whitmore who sang songs themed around resilience and strength in a vibrant yellow dress. Moira Gingco sang sweetly accompanied by her band, and Greta Rossi-Morgan smashed out some classic rock hits on drums. Isabella Forrest captivated all with her smooth vocals singing jazz, and the night finished on a high-energy heavy rock/metal set played on drums by Caitlyn Marshall.

Overall, every student performed exceptionally, gained valuable experience — and left one very proud Music teacher!
