On the 11th of September, the Supportive Friends rallied around this important day to ask R U OK?
We started the day with hot chocolates, cookies and chat before school.
During LM time, the video that the Supportive Friends produced was played which featured both staff and student messages of why R U OK Day is important every day.
At recess we continued with hot chocolates and a chat and messages on the R U OK chalkboard.
At lunch, we listened to the sounds of one of the College bands, purchased loaded cookies for a cause (thank you to Helen and the café staff for their generosity in baking these delicious treats and Ms Gatt for all her help in packaging them), posed for photos with the giant RU OK polaroid frame and painted hearts on faces and hands to encourage each other to reach out an ask…r u ok, today and every day.
The day ended with the winners of the raffle being announced with the proceeds of the day, $390.70 being donated to Beyond Blue.
We encourage everyone in the MSJ to remember to check in with each other and how the act of a simple gesture of kindness can have on the lives of others!
Congratulations to all of the students involved in the dance lunchtime concert Friday 5th September. It was my pleasure to work with such talented and dedicated young women who are so passionate about their dancing. We were fortunate to celebrate the gifts and talents of these girls with solo and group performances from a range of year levels in lyrical, jazz, latin, contemporary and hip-hop.
I was blown away with the large audience of staff and students we had in attendance who came along to support the girls on stage. Thank you to all of those who attended and performed. I'm very excited about continuing to work with students in this space and to witness the dance program continue to grow and flourish at MSJ.
