Year 12 Dodgeball

Over the course of Term 3, our Year 12 students have taken part in the annual Dodgeball Competition.

Organised and run by our Senior House Leaders, the round robin format brought out plenty of competitive spirit as Year 12 students took on one of their final House challenges.

Providence proved to be the most consistent team during the regular season, winning 4 out of 5 matches. Heading into the last round, three teams were still in contention for a grand final spot, with Kincumber securing their place thanks to a crucial win from Penola.

The grand final was tightly contested, but Providence’s strength in numbers and determination ultimately saw them crowned champions.

A big thank you to all our Year 12 students for their involvement, and congratulations to our game MVPs:

  • Louisa Talone
  • Kiani Howell
  • Anna Adani
  • Tylah McLeish
  • Millie Scott
  • Sophia Truong
  • Chantal Vella
  • Lauren Price
  • Bianca Anderson
  • Lily Hood
  • Nahla Saoud
  • Heidi Fehring

A special congratulations to Chantal Vella, named Season MVP, and to Eliza Pelns, who was best on ground in the Grand Final.

CGSAV Volleyball Tournament 2025

On August 13th, MSJ proudly participated in the CGSAV Volleyball Tournament at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Our Senior Division B team delivered an outstanding performance, securing the title of Senior Division B Champions. I was privileged to serve as team captain on the day and could not be prouder of the dedication and teamwork shown by every player.

A special commendation goes to Sonia Ghosn, who was recognised as Best Player of the Match in the final round for her exceptional saves and strong teamwork. Representing MSJ in Volleyball is always an honour, and it was a particularly proud moment to bring home this achievement for our school community.

Imogen Kerr - Year 11

The volleyball day at MSAC was a great time filled with joy. I speak for all those on the teams when I say it was a well put together event that was very fun to participate in. The day was a perfect opportunity to make new friends and interact with others from different schools, it connected people. Everyone was so nice and forgiving, and that highlighted the sportsmanship between teammates that might have not been there before. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that everyone enjoyed.

Netball

On Wednesday September 3rd 2025, MSJ took a total of 7 netball teams made up of eager players from years 7-8 to the State Netball Centre. As we arrived at the impressive venue, we were filled with a mix of excitement and anticipation. Our nerves were buzzing as we prepared to step onto the courts. Dressed in our sport uniforms we chatted excitedly about the competition ahead. Our energy was contagious as we encouraged and cheered on everyone from the side-lines.

The atmosphere was electric - all teams felt a sense of pride knowing that they were representing their school community. Each of the teams put their best effort on the court, and left it there. Towards the end of the day there were a total of 4 teams in finals with everyone gathered around them watching them play and shouting for the team from all around the court. At the end of the day everyone had huge smiles on their faces, happy with the effort that we put in to represent our school. The day was fantastic, full of laughter and excitement for everyone and was an amazing experience that everybody thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely remember.

Student Achievements

Historic Win at Asia Pacific Lacrosse Championship

Last term, we proudly shared that Sophie Coram and Annie Simmonds had been selected to represent Australia at the U16 Asia Pacific Lacrosse Championship in Jeju, South Korea.

We are delighted to now announce that the tournament was an incredible success, with both the boys’ and girls’ Australian teams claiming gold medals in the inaugural championship.

The competition brought together the best young lacrosse players from across the Asia Pacific region and was played in very challenging conditions, with extreme heat testing the endurance of all athletes. Despite this, Sophie and Annie rose to the occasion, demonstrating skill, determination, and teamwork throughout the tournament.

Their contribution to the team’s success reflects not only their talent on the field but also their commitment to training and representing their country with pride. This is a remarkable achievement for both students, and we congratulate them on their dedication and outstanding performance on the international stage.

Mount St. Joseph Girls’ College is proud to celebrate the success of our netball teams at the 2025 CGSAV Division 1 Grand Finals.

MSJ Students Shine at School Sport Victoria Lacrosse Competition

On Friday 12th September MSJ had nine Year 7 and 8 students compete in the school sport Victoria Lacrosse Competition at Fawkner Park. We had a mix of students that play Lacrosse and some that came along without any formal involvement in the game outside of school. The students' skills and understanding of the game developed across the day. Their ability to work together, self manage rotations and include all should be celebrated.

Congratulations to Alice Barry, Lottie Gawith, Ella Joseph, Eloise Marshall, Zoe McComb, Penny Rivera Stanton, Charlie Sayers, Zoe Scott and Greta Thom.
